Shirley M. Wright Memorial Library

Our Funding

Library Director Jessica Schoonover successfully wrote and won the competitive EBSCO Solar Grant in 2022 to begin the library's journey into energy conservation and sustainable practices.

To ensure the library's solar panel project could be funded fully through grants and incentives, the Library has also sought out and won a Solar Moonshot grant from Hammond Climate Solutions, a Solar for Good solar panel grant from RENEW Wisconsin, and incentives and rebates from Focus on Energy and the federal Inflation Reduction Act.

EBSCO Solar

EBSCO Solar

Solar power is the cleanest and most abundant renewable energy source available. EBSCO now has more than 500 solar panels offsetting the amount of "brown power" we buy and generating clean energy to reduce EBSCO's environmental footprint. We believe we can help make a critical impact on improving the environment, and we want to help a library make the same transition to green power.

Solar Moonshot

Solar Moonshot

The Solar Moonshot Program is helping nonprofit organizations across the United States afford the switch to clean energy. Grants up to $25,000 are typically awarded, with grant amounts dependent on various factors, including the organization’s need for funding.

Solar for Good

Solar for Good

RENEW Wisconsin’s Solar for Good initiative fosters the expansion of solar power among mission-based nonprofits and houses of worship in Wisconsin. Solar for Good celebrates awarded solar projects and helps nonprofit organizations educate their communities about the benefits of solar power. Solar for Good has already helped nearly 200 nonprofits save money on their electric bills that they can reinvest in their missions.

Focus on Energy

Focus on Energy

Installing cost-effective energy efficiency and renewable energy projects creates jobs, upgrades local infrastructure, and improves the environment.

Bottom line, the energy, and dollars saved through FOCUS ON ENERGY® strengthen Wisconsin’s economy.

By eliminating energy waste, we reduce the need to purchase coal and natural gas from other states. This keeps dollars in Wisconsin and lessens the need to build additional power plants.

Inflation Reduction Act

Inflation Reduction Act

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 is a landmark United States federal law that aims to curb inflation by reducing the deficit, lowering prescription drug prices, and investing in domestic energy production while promoting clean energy.
